Emi Nakayama

Certificated Dance Instructor; Certificated Yoga Instructor. Emi followed her mother’s passion for dancing. At three years old she began to learn Chinese ethnic dance, and she started performing at four years old. 

Since 2001, she has lived or traveled in  India, Indonesia, Australia, Canada, Hawaii and the United States to accept a different dance and art culture, including Odissi dance, Bollywood, Balinese dance, Polynesia dance, Hula, Flamenco, Oriental dance, Egyptian folk dance, Turkish folk dance, American Tribal, American tap dance, etc. During her dancing journey, Emi studied under many famous dancers, such as American Tribal Belly Dance founder Carolena Nericcio; Tribal Fusion dance founder Jill Parker;  Modern Arabic Stage Style founder Shabnam Pena; Oriental dance masters Hadia, Virginia Mendez, Khaled Mahmoud, Mohamed Shahin, Magda Ibrahim, Tito, and grand Oriental dance master Yousry Sharif, Lubna Emam; Odissi dance Guru Sri Vishnu Tattva Das and master Bani Ray; and Flamenco dance teachers Damaris Dee and Juala Cala. In 2008 Emi started learning Classical Bellydance and traditional Egyptian folk dance under master Karima (Komatsu Kaori) in Japan.

In 2013, she finished Hadia’s Level 1 Certified Middle Eastern Dance Instructor Training Program. She then started to teach bellydance in Japan and created her own showcase “Bellydance Night”. In 2017, she finished 15 hours Egyptian folklore intensive course by Lubna Emam. Emi has performed in many parties, events, and festivals, including: In 2011, she performed with Shabnam Dance Company in an audition for San Francisco  Ethnic Dance Festival (EDF) in Berkeley, California.  Shabnam’s company was selected to perform in the festival. In 2012, she performed in Lono’s Live Music Show and New Year Celebration Show in Hawaii. In 2012, she performed in the TBS TV show “The Pressure”, UNREAL EXOTICA Vol.3, and UNREAL EXOTICA Vol.4, in Tokyo and did her first bellydance workshop in Ibaragi, Japan. In 2013, she performed in Hadia’s Gala Show in Edmonton, Canada. In 2017, she performed with Hoppa Tokyo and Kadesh in Dance Dance Istanbul in Tokyo, Japan. And Tokyo Asahi Abema TV live broadcast.
